Hello.
This is Vibe Plastic Surgery.
When it comes to canthoplasty, there are various surgical methods, and
whether your eyes are a suitable case for canthoplasty
can be quite difficult to judge on your own.
At Vibe Plastic Surgery,
in addition to basic double eyelid surgery,
we have created Vibe's exclusive canthoplasty
to perform eye surgery that highlights
the unique characteristics of each individual's eyes.

Are you unfamiliar with Mango Canthoplasty?
It is an exclusive canthoplasty procedure at Vibe Plastic Surgery.
We thought that a soft, streamlined shape like a mango
would make the eyes look larger and more refreshing,
which is why we developed this unique canthoplasty technique at Vibe.

There are various types of canthoplasty.
Based on the dark pupil of the eye,
epicanthoplasty, lateral canthoplasty, upper canthoplasty, and lower canthoplasty
are the four main directions.

The direction towards the nose is epicanthoplasty (front canthoplasty),
the opposite direction towards the ear is lateral canthoplasty,
and if the goal is to release the upper Mongolian fold
in a 45-degree upward direction from the front,
that is upper canthoplasty.
When the under-eye area is too high, making the eyes look stuffy
and blocked, lower canthoplasty is a surgical method
that opens up the eyes in the downward direction.

It is determined by the relationship between the eyeball and the lower eyelid.
In cases where the eyes are protruding and bulging,
the eyeball and the lower eyelid are closely attached to each other,
so even if a lot of opening is done, they move together while attached,
which is advantageous in terms of scarring.
On the other hand, if the eyeball itself is sunken
and the bone structure is far and floating,
they move while floating together with every movement,
which can expose the red inner flesh
or make scars more visible, resulting in
disadvantageous outcomes in this regard.

It depends on the surgical method.
There is a surgical method that directly anchors the ligament
at the outer corner of the eye to the outer periosteum bone,
and a method that does not anchor it.
Depending on the surgical method, directly
fixing it to the periosteum during surgery
provides a better opening effect and a lower probability of relapsing.
However, if the surgery is performed only on the soft tissues without fixation,
you might feel as though they are reattaching.

It is not a matter of right or wrong,
but rather a difference in surgical methods.
Dr. Yoo Young-moon of Vibe Plastic Surgery
prefers the method of directly fixing it to the periosteum.
The reason is that this surgical method ensures a much more definitive amount of opening
and has a lower probability of relapsing.
However, the non-fixation method also has its advantages.
The postoperative recovery process is much faster,
and there are fewer problems that can arise from scarring
or excessive opening.
Also, not fixing it does not necessarily mean it will unconditionally relapse
or revert back.

If the condition after surgery is such that the eyelid has already flipped,
causing ectropion, and the conjunctiva has become dry and epithelialized,
leaving the red part exposed,
that part cannot be improved even with revision surgery.
Therefore, it is important to achieve satisfactory results from the beginning
so that revision surgery is not necessary.

It is possible through reconstructive surgery.
The excessively opened part can be pulled
and fixed to the desired position.
However, because the scar tissue from the surgery itself
continues to pull, it must be fixed strongly enough
to overcome and withstand that force,
which sometimes requires drilling a hole directly into the bone
for sturdy fixation.
Therefore, while reconstructive surgery is possible,
please keep in mind that it is a highly difficult
surgical procedure.

When only lateral canthoplasty or lateral-lower canthoplasty is performed,
the lower part inevitably becomes horizontal.
In that case, it ends up looking somewhat like a sliced pickled radish (danmuji).
But since that shape doesn't look very pretty,
the canthoplasty we developed after much deliberation is 'Mango Canthoplasty'.

As mentioned above, Mango Canthoplasty
lowers the bottom part through lower canthoplasty,
making the eyes look much larger and actually reducing the probability of reattachment.
Since the surgery is performed non-incisionally,
it has the advantage of minimizing the burden of scarring.
If you are considering eye surgery to improve your image
with a softer eye shape,
we recommend Vibe's exclusive Mango Canthoplasty,
which can enhance your eyes to be larger and more refreshing.
